Fourty patients with RA were selected. The patients were divided into four groups, each including ten patients as follows:
Group I :Patients suffering from old rheumatoid arthritis (> one year) and received advanced form of treatment, e.g. methotrexate, NSAIDs and corticoticosteroids. They were treated with ozone therapy as well.
Group II : Patients suffering from old rheumatoid arthritis (> one year) and received advanced form of treatment, e.g. methotrexate, NSAIDs and corticoticosteroids. They were considered as a control to group I.
Group III : Patients suffering from early rheumatoid arthritis (< 1year) and received mild form of treatment e.g. NSAIDs. They were treated with ozone therapy.
Group IV : Patients suffering from early rheumatoid arthritis (< 1year) and received mild form of treatment e.g. NSAIDs. They were considered as a control group to group III.
Methods
- Ozone administration in the study groups ( I & III ) was given in the form of rectal insufflation and minor autohemotherapy at a rate of twice sessions/week for 10 weeks (Total of 20 sessions).
- R.I. Concentration started from 15 µ/ml and increased gradually till the maximum of 40 µ/ml on the 9th session. The volume started with 250 ml and increased to 300 ml on 5th session and onwards.
